Corynebacterium striatum is a bacterium that is a member of the Corynebacterium genus. It is classified as non-diphtheritic.The bacterium is a gram-positive prokaryote that assumes a 'club-like' morphology, more formally known as a corynebacteria structure. Arcanobacterium haemolyticum: biology of the organism and diseases in man. Pediatr Infect Dis J 1991; 10:933-39.
In 1982 the previously named Corynebacterium haemolyticum was included in a new genus to reflect major differences in cell wall components and chemotaxonomic characters, the genus Arcanobacterium ( 10 ). Arcanobacterium haemolyticum, formerly known as Corynebacterium haemolyticum, is a Gram-positive bacillus that most often infects adolescents and young adults, and may result in a syndrome of pharyngitis and a scarlatiniform exanthem.

A. haemolyticum is a Gram-positive, catalase-negative, β-haemolytic bacillus. Arcanobacterium hemolyticum is a β‐hemolytic Gram‐positive, pleomorphic, facultative anaerobic, non‐acid‐fast rod that has been implicated as an etiologic agent of non‐streptococcal pharyngitis, especially in adolescents and young adults, as well as a cause of skin and wound infections, osteomyelitis, sepsis, and central nervous system infections. Arcanobacterium haemolyticum, a Gram-positive bacterium, is an under-reportedagent of disease, causing pharyngitis, wound infections and a variety of invasive diseases. This work characterized a known A. haemolyticum toxin, phospholipase D (PLD), anddetermined its possible role in bacterial virulence.

Colonies on blood agar after 48hr produce zones of β-haemolysis and are similar in appearance to Trueperella pyogenes. They have been isolated from the throat .
Rhodococcus equi and Arcanobacterium haemolyticum, formerly classified in the genus Corynebacterium, are members of the loosely defined taxon "coryneform" bacteria. Although they are the etiologic agents of distinct human infections, both organisms are frequently overlooked, which results in missed or delayed diagnoses. JMM Case Rep. 2016; 3 (1):e005016 (ISSN: 2053-3721) INTRODUCTION: Arcanobacterium haemolyticum (formerly known as Corynebacterium haemolyticum) is the causative agent of sore throat and also causes

Genus Arcanobacterium was described by Collins et al. 1982 as a group of facultative anaerobic, asporogenous, and Gram-stain positive rods. According to Yassin et al. (2011) , this genus consists of four species, namely, Arcanobacterium haemolyticum, Arcanobacterium hippocoleae, Arcanobacterium phocae, and Arcanobacterium pluranimalium.
